Social Supermarkets in the LinC Yarra Valley Church Network

Social Supermarkets in Upper Yarra Valley & Mooroolbark

Our social supermarkets (known by many customers as the fresh food program, or SecondBite) operate each week across five sites, including Millgrove, Mooroolbark, Wandin North, Woori Yallock and Yarra Junction.

Our social supermarkets offer a range of fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables, bread and other food and personal items that vary each week. We support anyone who needs some extra support due to low income or unemployment, short and long term health problems, family violence and homelessness.

Social supermarkets have emerged as an alternative food relief model that may offer a more dignified, empowering experience for users. In some instances, the policy context has enabled the proliferation of SSMs, for example, in Europe. Meanwhile, in Australia, SSMs are relatively new.
