LinC Yarra Valley is looking for people who want to help guide the organisation’s future and strengthen its capacity to serve people across the Yarra Valley.
For more than 30 years, LinC Yarra Valley has connected local churches, volunteers, supporters and community partners to provide practical care for people experiencing hardship, isolation and crisis.
Our work includes crisis support, Social Supermarkets, LinC Play, referrals, practical assistance and community connection.
As LinC enters its next chapter, we are seeking people who are actively connected with a Christian church community and who can bring wisdom, sound judgement, relevant skills and a genuine commitment to LinC Yarra Valley’s purpose.
Current Board Opportunities
President
Provides leadership to the Board and chairs Board and general meetings. The President helps keep the Board focused on LinC’s mission, strategy, governance, risk and sustainability and works constructively with the General Manager and fellow Board members.
Experience in leadership, governance, business, ministry, community organisations or strategic planning would be valuable.
Secretary
Supports LinC Yarra Valley’s formal governance and statutory administration. The Secretary helps ensure membership records, required notices, governance records, AGM processes and statutory filings are properly maintained. The role works alongside the President, General Manager and other Board members and does not need to personally carry every administrative task.
Strong organisation, attention to detail, communication and follow-through are particularly helpful in this role.
Finance Ordinary Member
We are particularly keen to hear from people who may be willing to serve in one of the constitutional office-holder roles, as well as people interested in contributing as an Ordinary Board Member who may be willing to work alongside the Treasurer.
Who we are looking for
We welcome people with experience, interest or capability in areas such as:
- finance, accounting or financial sustainability
- governance, legal or risk management
- fundraising, philanthropy or grant development
- human resources, volunteer leadership or training
- community services, social support or local partnerships
- communications, marketing or stakeholder engagement
- strategic planning, business support or social enterprise
- church, ministry or community leadership
Board members do not need to bring expertise in every area. A strong Board brings together people with different strengths, perspectives and experience.
What Board membership involves
The Board is responsible for the governance, strategic direction, financial stewardship and long-term sustainability of LinC Yarra Valley.
Board members contribute to Board meetings and decisions, prepare for meetings, maintain confidentiality, declare conflicts of interest and act in the best interests of LinC Yarra Valley.
The Board generally meets six times each year through a combination of online and face-to-face meetings.
Board members may also contribute to an agreed area of focus such as finance, governance, fundraising, volunteer leadership, church and community engagement, communications or stakeholder relationships. An Ordinary Board Member may also be a Church member representative.
Current Board
Constitutional offices elected at the 2026 AGM were Vice-President, Treasurer and Ordinary Board Members.
Vice-President (Daniel Matteo)
Supports the President and provides leadership continuity. The Vice-President may chair meetings in the President’s absence and contribute to agreed governance initiatives, projects or Board development activities.
Treasurer (Mark Knoll)
Supports the Board’s oversight of LinC’s financial position and long-term sustainability. The Treasurer helps the Board understand financial reports, budgets, cash flow, financial risks and future financial priorities.
Accounting, finance, bookkeeping, audit or business management experience would be particularly valuable.
Ordinary Board Members (Helen Hrabe, Rosalee Hoult, Karen Hollenbach, Phillip Kennedy, Ray McDonald, Alexis Tapp and David Wilson)
Ordinary Board Members participate fully in governance, strategy and decision-making and bring particular skills, experience or community insight to the Board. Members may also contribute to an agreed portfolio such as communications and stakeholder engagement, fundraising and philanthropy, church and community engagement, governance and risk, volunteer leadership, business partnerships, or safeguarding and policy development.
Who can nominate?
To be considered for a person must:
- be at least 18 years of age
- be a current member of LinC Yarra Valley
- be entitled to vote at a general meeting under LinC Yarra Valley’s Constitution
Eligible members may nominate themselves or, with their consent, be nominated by another member.
