Inquiry into Food Security in Victoria

Last week VicHealth provided a submission to the Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee Inquiry into food security. These recommendations are designed to address the multifaceted factors influencing food insecurity and to develop lasting solutions.

They covered:

• Right to Food law
• food systems governance
• data & monitoring
• community food systems planning
• local food systems and infrastructure

The Committee will inquire into, consider and report on the impacts, drivers of and solutions for food security in Victoria including the impact of food insecurity on physical and mental health and poverty and hardship and the options available to lower the cost of food and improve access to affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food.
